Article R211-20 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

When a work or document for which the cinematographic licence includes a specific ban on showing is shown in cinematographic theatres, the words “film forbidden to minors under twelve”, “film forbidden to minors under sixteen” or “film forbidden to minors under eighteen” must be clearly, intelligibly and conspicuously displayed on the media intended to inform the public about screenings in the establishment.

Lorsqu’une œuvre ou un document dont le visa d’exploitation cinématographique comporte une interdiction particulière de représentation fait l’objet d’une représentation en salle de spectacles cinématographiques, la mention ” film interdit aux mineurs de douze ans “, ” film interdit aux mineurs de seize ans ” ou ” film interdit aux mineurs de dix-huit ans ” est portée de façon claire, intelligible et apparente sur les supports destinés à l’information du public sur les séances dans l’établissement.
