Article R2112-21 of the French Public Health Code

Civil registrars send a birth certificate drawn up in accordance with the provisions of article 11 of decree no. 62-921 of 3 August 1962 amending certain rules relating to civil status records, within forty-eight hours of the birth being declared, to the doctor in charge of the maternal and child protection service in the department in which the parents reside.

They send this doctor a copy of the death certificate for children under the age of six whose parents reside in the department, under the same conditions.

Les officiers de l’état civil adressent un extrait d’acte de naissance établi conformément aux dispositions de l’article 11 du décret n° 62-921 du 3 août 1962 modifiant certaines règles relatives aux actes de l’état civil dans les quarante-huit heures de la déclaration de naissance, au médecin responsable du service de protection maternelle et infantile du département dans lequel résident les parents.

Ils adressent à ce médecin dans les mêmes conditions une copie de l’acte de décès des enfants âgés de moins de six ans dont les parents résident dans le département.
