When a couple or an unmarried woman wishes to have recourse to preimplantation diagnosis under the conditions set out in article L. 2131-4-1, at least one doctor from the multidisciplinary team of the prenatal diagnosis centre will conduct one or more interviews with the two members of the couple or the unmarried woman.
This interview must, in particular, enable them to be informed of:
1° The legislative and regulatory provisions relating to the pre-implantation diagnosis referred to in article L. 2131-4-1;
2° The various stages of the authorisation procedure;
3° The results likely to be obtained following this diagnosis and their possible medical, psychological and ethical consequences.
At the end of this interview, the doctor consulted will draw up a certificate co-signed by both members of the couple or signed by the unmarried woman certifying that they have been provided with this information.
If, after consultation, the multidisciplinary team considers that recourse to the pre-implantation diagnosis referred to in article L. 2131-4-1 is justified, at least one doctor on the team obtains the consent of the two members of the couple or of the unmarried woman and fills in a request for authorisation to carry out this diagnosis with them. This request is co-signed by the two members of the couple or the unmarried woman and the doctor. A copy of these documents is given to the couple or the unmarried woman.
If this is not the case, the reasons are explained to the applicant in writing, following an interview with at least one doctor from the multidisciplinary team. The Agence de la biomédecine is informed of these reasons.
