Section 3: Pre-implantation diagnosis

The preimplantation diagnosis referred to in Article L. 2131-4 may only be carried out if the applicant, whether the couple or the unmarried woman, fulfils the conditions required for the implementation of medically assisted procreation set out in Article L. 2141-2.

Preimplantation diagnosis includes the following activities: 1° Cell sampling from the embryo obtained by in vitro fertilisation ; 2° Cytogenetic tests, including molecular tests, on the embryonic cell or cells; 3° Molecular genetic tests on the embryonic cell or cells.

The indication to use the biological diagnosis mentioned in article R. 2131-22-1 is the subject of a certificate drawn up after consultation within a multidisciplinary prenatal diagnosis centre involving the multidisciplinary clinical-biological medical procreation assistance team mentioned in article L. 2141-2 and the practitioner approved for the activities mentioned in article R. 2131-22-2 . Prior to the embryo transfer, one of the practitioners on the multidisciplinary clinico-biological medical team for medically assisted procreation provides the couple or the unmarried woman with the results of the biological diagnosis and any necessary comments.
