Article R313-5 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

In particular, the following are considered to be documents relating to repatriation guarantees:
1° Sea, rail, road or air tickets valid for return to the country of habitual residence and whose bearer ensures that they remain valid until the date of departure;
2° Certificates from banking establishments located in France or abroad guaranteeing the repatriation of the person concerned in the event that they are unable to pay the costs themselves, accompanied, where applicable, by a translation into French.

Sont notamment considérés comme des documents relatifs aux garanties de rapatriement :
1° Les titres de transport maritime, ferroviaire, routier ou aérien valables pour revenir dans le pays de résidence habituelle et dont le porteur veille à maintenir la validité jusqu’à la date de son départ ;
2° Les attestations d’établissements bancaires situés en France ou à l’étranger garantissant le rapatriement de l’intéressé au cas où celui-ci ne serait pas en mesure d’en assumer lui-même les frais, accompagnées le cas échéant d’une traduction en français.
