EC type-examination is the procedure whereby a body authorised by the Minister for Industry ascertains and certifies that the PPE-SL model concerned meets the essential health and safety requirements applicable to it.
The application for “EC” type examination may only be submitted by the manufacturer, his authorised representative or, failing this, by any person responsible for placing the equipment on the market, to a single authorised body for a given model of personal protective equipment. It includes:
1° The name and address of the manufacturer, his authorised representative or, failing this, the person responsible for placing the equipment on the market, established in the territory of one of the Member States of the European Community, and the place of manufacture of the PPE-SL concerned;
2° The technical documentation defined in Annex III-8.
The application for an EC type-examination must be accompanied by the number of copies of the models required for the examination.
