The medical monitoring committee may examine the situation of a patient hospitalised in the unit for difficult patients in the department where it is located at any time. It examines the file of each patient hospitalised in the unit at least every six months. It informs the departmental commission for psychiatric care of its findings.
The matter may also be referred to it by
1° By the person hospitalised in the unit, his/her family, his/her legal representative if he/she is a minor, the person responsible for his/her legal protection if he/she is the subject of such a measure, or his/her close relatives ;
2° By the public prosecutor responsible for the place of origin or reception ;
3° By the Prefect of the home or host département or, in Paris, by the Police Prefect;
4° By the psychiatrist in charge of the unit ;
5° By the general practitioner or psychiatrist in private practice treating the patient;
6° By the psychiatrist of the health establishment in which the patient was initially treated;
7° By the director of the establishment where the unit is located;
8° By the director of the health establishment in which the patient was initially treated.
