Article R342-4 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The application and the documents attached to it are made available to the foreign national’s lawyer as soon as they arrive at the court registry. They may also be consulted there, before the opening of the proceedings, by the foreign national himself, assisted, if necessary, by an interpreter if he does not speak sufficient French.

La requête et les pièces qui y sont jointes sont, dès leur arrivée au greffe du tribunal judiciaire, mises à la disposition de l’avocat de l’étranger. Elles peuvent y être également consultées, avant l’ouverture des débats, par l’étranger lui-même, assisté, le cas échéant, par un interprète s’il ne parle pas suffisamment la langue française.
