Article R343-16 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The delegate of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees or his authorised representatives may talk to the head of the border control services and, when they are present, to the agents of the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons and the agents of the French Office for Immigration and Integration responsible for humanitarian assistance.
They may also talk confidentially to persons held in the waiting area who have applied for asylum or subsidiary protection.

Le délégué du Haut-Commissariat des Nations unies pour les réfugiés ou ses représentants agréés peuvent s’entretenir avec le chef des services de contrôle aux frontières et, lorsqu’ils sont présents, avec les agents de l’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides et les agents de l’Office français de l’immigration et de l’intégration chargés de l’assistance humanitaire.
Ils peuvent également s’entretenir confidentiellement avec les personnes maintenues en zone d’attente qui ont présenté une demande d’asile ou de protection subsidiaire.
