The reserved areas referred to in article R. 3512-3 are enclosed rooms used for smoking and in which no services are provided. No servicing or maintenance work may be carried out unless the air has been changed for at least one hour in the absence of any occupant.
These areas must :
1° Be equipped with an air extraction system using mechanical ventilation allowing a minimum renewal of air of ten times the volume of the space per hour. This system is entirely independent of the building’s ventilation or air conditioning system. The room must be kept at a continuous negative pressure of at least five pascals in relation to adjoining rooms;
2° Be fitted with automatic closures that cannot be opened unintentionally;
3° Not be a place of passage;
4° Have a surface area no greater than 20% of the total surface area of the establishment in which the pitches are located, without the surface area of a pitch exceeding 35 square metres.
