In the case of personal protective equipment, the notified body shall carry out examinations and tests to ensure that:
1° The technical file contains all the necessary elements. If this file refers to the standards mentioned in Article L. 4311-7, the body shall ensure that it includes all the information required by these standards. If this file does not refer to such standards or refers to them only in application of part of the applicable technical rules or if there are no such standards, the body shall ensure that, for the equipment submitted for examination, the technical specifications used for application of the technical rules which do not refer to these standards comply with these technical rules;
2° The model of personal protective equipment has been manufactured in accordance with the information contained in the technical file and can be used safely in accordance with its intended purpose.To this end, it carries out the appropriate examinations and tests to ensure, as appropriate, that the model of personal protective equipment complies with:
a) Either the standards referred to in the technical file;
b) the technical specifications used, if these technical specifications have first been recognised as complying with the technical rules applicable to the personal protective equipment.
