Article R432-3 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

If a person in charge of the management of a cinema or responsible for controlling access to cinemas wilfully allows one of these minors to enter a cinema where a film is being shown, the showing of which is prohibited for minors aged eighteen, sixteen or twelve, this person will be punished by a 5th class fine.
The person mentioned in the previous paragraph may demand the production of any document that establishes the age of the spectator. If the spectator, appearing to be a minor, is not in possession of such a document, the person may require at least one accompanying adult to provide a written attestation of the spectator’s real age, as well as proof of his or her own identity.

Le fait, pour une personne assurant la direction d’un établissement de spectacles cinématographiques ou chargée de contrôler l’accès aux salles, de laisser pénétrer volontairement, dans une salle où est représentée une œuvre cinématographique dont la représentation est interdite aux mineurs de dix-huit, seize ou douze ans, un de ces mineurs est puni de l’amende prévue pour les contraventions de la 5e classe.
La personne mentionnée à l’alinéa précédent peut exiger la production de toute pièce de nature à établir l’âge du spectateur. Lorsque ce dernier, paraissant mineur, est démuni d’un tel document, elle peut exiger d’au moins une personne majeure qui l’accompagne une attestation écrite faisant état de l’âge réel du spectateur, ainsi que la justification de sa propre identité.
