Article R434-6 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

Subject to the provisions of article L. 434-7, the benefit of family reunification may be granted to the foreign national’s spouse and, where applicable, children under the age of eighteen, who are residing in France, without recourse to the introduction procedure.
For the purposes of the first paragraph, a spouse is taken to mean a foreign national residing legally in France under cover of a temporary residence permit valid for at least one year or a multi-annual residence permit who enters into a marriage with the applicant residing legally in France under the conditions laid down in articles R. 434-1 and R. 434-2.

Article R434-6

Sous réserve des dispositions de l’article L. 434-7, le bénéfice du regroupement familial peut être accordé au conjoint et, le cas échéant, aux enfants de moins de dix-huit ans de l’étranger, qui résident en France, sans recours à la procédure d’introduction.
Pour l’application du premier alinéa est entendu comme conjoint l’étranger résidant régulièrement en France sous couvert d’une carte de séjour temporaire d’une durée de validité d’au moins un an ou d’une carte de séjour pluriannuelle qui contracte mariage avec le demandeur résidant régulièrement en France dans les conditions prévues aux articles R. 434-1 et R. 434-2.
