The votes shall be counted without delay on the day of the election at the headquarters of the body of the Association in New Caledonia or French Polynesia concerned or, failing this, at the National Council, in a public meeting, under the supervision of the members of the polling station.
The assessors shall count the number of votes obtained by each of the candidates.
The polling station shall rule on the validity of ballot papers and envelopes which are not in accordance with the regulations, bear internal or external signs of recognition or contain offensive wording. Those whose validity cannot be taken into account shall be appended to the minutes.
The candidates with the highest number of votes up to the number of seats to be filled shall be declared elected as full members. The following candidates are then declared elected as substitute members in the order of the number of votes obtained, up to the number of substitute seats to be filled. In the event of a tie, the oldest candidate is declared elected.
