Containers or packaging containing narcotics and used for their import or export, transport or possession must bear a label of a size appropriate to their volume, affixed in such a way that it cannot be accidentally detached.
This label bears, in indelible and legible black characters, the following information:
1° For a substance, a plant or a part of a plant: the international non-proprietary name recommended by the World Health Organisation, whenever it exists or, in the opposite case, that of the European or French Pharmacopoeia or, failing this, the scientific name ;
2° For a preparation: its trade name, if any, accompanied by the name of the narcotic substance(s) it contains, expressed as above;
3° The gross mass and tare weight corresponding to the packaging used;
4° The name and address of the manufacturer, distributor or importer;
5° A skull and crossbones on an orange-yellow square background of sufficient size; this square is placed in the top left-hand corner of the label;
6° A reference number for each container or package.
However, in the case of transport, the outer packaging of packages shall bear no indication other than the name and address of the consignor and consignee. Packages are sealed with the sender’s mark.
