Article R5143-3 of the French Public Health Code

The user prepares the medicated feed extemporaneously in accordance with the good practices mentioned in article R. 5143-1.

Medicated feed may only be prepared extemporaneously from a single medicated premix. However, when the veterinarian’s prescription expressly so provides, a medicated feed may be prepared extemporaneously from more than one medicated premix when no appropriate medicated premix is available, within a timeframe compatible with therapeutic requirements, for the disease to be treated or prevented in the species in question.

The following information must be recorded by the user:

1° The name and quantity of each premix received, the batch number, the name and address of the supplier and the date of receipt ;

2° The nature and quantity of the products used for each medicated feed prepared;

3° The nature and quantity of the medicated feed prepared and the date of the corresponding extemporaneous preparations.

Immediately after each extemporaneous preparation, this information is recorded by an appropriate system allowing immediate printing at the request of the control authorities and not allowing any modification of the data after validation of their recording.

The records and the paper copies of these records for periods of no more than one month are kept for a period of five years and are made available to the supervisory authorities during this period.

Article R5143-3

L’utilisateur effectue la préparation extemporanée des aliments médicamenteux conformément aux bonnes pratiques mentionnées à l’article R. 5143-1.

L’aliment médicamenteux ne peut être préparé extemporanément qu’à partir d’un seul prémélange médicamenteux. Toutefois, lorsque la prescription du vétérinaire le prévoit expressément, un aliment médicamenteux peut être préparé extemporanément à partir de plus d’un prémélange médicamenteux lorsque aucun prémélange médicamenteux approprié n’est disponible, dans des délais compatibles avec les nécessités thérapeutiques, pour la maladie à traiter ou à prévenir dans l’espèce considérée.

Les renseignements suivants sont consignés par l’utilisateur :

1° La dénomination et la quantité de chaque prémélange reçu, le numéro de lot, le nom et l’adresse du fournisseur ainsi que la date de réception ;

2° La nature et la quantité des produits utilisés pour chaque aliment médicamenteux préparé ;

3° La nature et la quantité des aliments médicamenteux préparés et la date des préparations extemporanées correspondantes.

Ces renseignements sont, immédiatement après chaque préparation extemporanée, enregistrés par un système approprié permettant une édition immédiate à la demande des autorités de contrôle et n’autorisant aucune modification des données après validation de leur enregistrement.

Les enregistrements ainsi que les éditions papier de ces enregistrements par périodes maximales d’un mois sont conservés pendant une durée de cinq ans et sont tenus à la disposition des autorités de contrôle pendant cette durée.
