Article R531-7 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

When a decision cannot be made within the six-month period, the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons shall inform the person concerned at least fifteen days before the expiry of this period. At the request of the person concerned, the Office will also inform them of the reasons for the delay and the foreseeable timeframe within which a decision will be taken on their application.

Lorsqu’une décision ne peut pas être prise dans le délai de six mois, l’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides en informe l’intéressé au moins quinze jours avant l’expiration de ce délai. A la demande de l’intéressé, l’office l’informe également des motifs du retard et du délai prévisible dans lequel il sera statué sur sa demande.
