Article R531-7 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

When a decision cannot be made within the six-month period, the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons shall inform the person concerned at least fifteen days before the expiry of this period. At the request of the person concerned, the Office will also inform them of the reasons for the delay and the foreseeable timeframe within which a decision will be taken on their application.

All correspondence sent by post to asylum seekers is sent to the address at which they have elected domicile pursuant to article L. 551-7.Asylum seekers with a stable address are required, in the event of a change of address, to inform the French Office for Immigration and Integration without delay. Failing this, all correspondence sent to the last known address is deemed to have been notified to the addressee.
