Article R532-11 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

When the applicant disputes the language in which he has been heard by the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons he shall indicate within the time limit for appeal the language in which he wishes to be heard. They will then be heard in that language.
When their request cannot be met, they will be heard in a language they can reasonably be expected to understand.

Lorsque le requérant conteste la langue dans laquelle il a été entendu par l’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides il indique dans le délai de recours la langue dans laquelle il souhaite être entendu. Il est alors entendu dans cette langue.
Lorsque sa demande ne peut être satisfaite, il est entendu dans une langue dont il est raisonnable de penser qu’il la comprend.
