Article R541-1 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

The certificate of application for asylum is renewed until the right to remain expires in application of articles L. 542-1 or L. 542-2.
Renewal of the certificate of application for asylum is the responsibility of the Prefect of the department in which the asylum seeker is domiciled in application of articles R. 551-7 to R. 551-15, and in Paris, the Prefect of Police.
The first renewal is made on presentation of the acknowledgement of receipt from the French Office for the Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons mentioned in article R. 531-5.
Subject to the provisions of article L. 542-2, in the event of an appeal against a decision by the Office rejecting an asylum application, renewal is made on presentation of the notice of receipt of an appeal to the Cour nationale du droit d’asile (National Court of Asylum) mentioned in article R. 532-9.
The certificate is not renewed when it is clear that the time limit stipulated in article L. 532-1 has not been respected.

Article R541-1

L’attestation de demande d’asile est renouvelée jusqu’à ce que le droit au maintien prenne fin en application des articles L. 542-1 ou L. 542-2.
Le renouvellement de l’attestation de demande d’asile relève du préfet du département dans lequel le demandeur d’asile est domicilié en application des articles R. 551-7 à R. 551-15, et à Paris, du préfet de police.
Le premier renouvellement est effectué sur présentation de l’accusé de réception de l’Office français de protection des réfugiés et apatrides mentionné à l’article R. 531-5.
Sous réserve des dispositions de l’article L. 542-2, en cas de recours contre une décision de l’office rejetant une demande d’asile, le renouvellement est effectué sur présentation de l’avis de réception d’un recours devant la Cour nationale du droit d’asile mentionné à l’article R. 532-9.
L’attestation n’est pas renouvelée lorsqu’il est manifeste que le délai prévu à l’article L. 532-1 n’a pas été respecté.
