Article R612-7 of the French Intellectual Property Code

Within fifteen days of the filing or arrival of the documents at the National Institute of Industrial Property, the latter shall assign a national registration number to the patent application and shall notify it to the applicant without delay. Any subsequent correspondence or filing of documents which does not refer to this number or which does not bear the signature of the applicant or his representative shall be declared inadmissible.

Dans les quinze jours qui suivent la remise ou l’arrivée des pièces à l’Institut national de la propriété industrielle, celui-ci attribue à la demande de brevet un numéro d’enregistrement national et le notifie sans délai au demandeur. Est déclaré irrecevable toute correspondance ou tout dépôt de pièces ultérieur qui ne rappelle pas ce numéro ou qui ne porte pas la signature du demandeur ou de son mandataire.
