The doctors and odontologists governed by this section have medical responsibility for continuity of care, in conjunction with the other members of the hospital’s medical staff. The pharmacists governed by this section are responsible for organising pharmaceutical duty, in conjunction with the other pharmacists in the establishment, under the conditions defined by the internal regulations and the duty roster:
In this respect, they must in particular
1° In the structures organised on a continuous basis, ensure day and night work under the conditions defined by the internal regulations and the duty roster;
2° In other structures, ensure the daily morning and afternoon work; in addition, they participate in the continuity of care, or in the pharmaceutical duty organised either on site, or on call at home.
When the interests of the service so require, the director of the establishment, after consulting the chairman of the establishment’s medical committee, may decide to suspend the participation of a hospital practitioner in continuity of care or pharmaceutical duty at night, on Saturday afternoons, Sundays and public holidays for a maximum period of three months. The director of the hospital immediately informs the director general of the Centre national de gestion and the director general of the regional health agency.
A practitioner who is not authorised, at the end of this period, to participate again in the continuity of care or pharmaceutical duty is subject, depending on the case, to the procedure relating to professional inadequacy or the disciplinary procedure provided for in this section.
3° Carrying out the replacements required by the various leaves of absence, under the conditions laid down in article R. 6152-31.
