As part of their participation in emergency medical aid and on the prescription of the regulating doctor or a doctor present at the scene, fire fighters are authorised to perform the following emergency care procedures:
1° Aerosol or spray administration of medicinal products to a person presenting a clinical picture of :
a) Severe acute asthma when the person is a known asthmatic;
b) Acute pain;
2° Oral or intranasal administration of medicinal products in compliance with the recommendations of good practice of learned societies, in the presence of a clinical picture of :
a) Opiate overdose;
b) Acute pain;
3° Administration of medicinal products by auto-injector pen to a person presenting a clinical picture of:
a) Anaphylactic shock;
b) Hypoglycaemia;
4° Recording and transmission of electrocardiograms;
5° Collection of haemoglobinaemia.
In the event that procedures have been carried out on the prescription of or by a doctor present at the scene, this doctor will inform the regulating doctor.
If the situation so requires, in particular in the event of life-threatening distress, when the regulating doctor cannot provide an immediate response and in the absence of a doctor present at the scene, a fire brigade doctor may intervene under conditions defined by an agreement signed between the health establishment authorised to provide the emergency medical assistance service and the fire and rescue service, after receiving the opinion of the departmental committee for emergency medical assistance, permanent care and medical transport mentioned in article R. 6313-1.
