Article R821-66 of the French Commercial code

The vice-presidents assist the president and replace him/her in the event of resignation, absence or impediment. In the absence of the Chairman or Vice-Chairmen, the duties of the Chairman are performed by the oldest member of the Regional Council.

Les vice-présidents assistent le président et le remplacent en cas de démission, d’absence ou d’empêchement. A défaut du président ou des vice-présidents, les fonctions du président sont exercées par le doyen d’âge du conseil régional.
