Article R8294-4 of the French Labour Code

On termination of their contract with the company or at the end of their secondment in France, employees are required to return their professional identification card to their employer or to the user company so that the latter can forward it to the union of funds mentioned in article R. 8291-2, for destruction.

Le salarié est tenu, lors de la cessation de son contrat dans l’entreprise ou à l’issue de son détachement en France, de remettre sa carte d’identification professionnelle à son employeur ou à l’entreprise utilisatrice afin que celui-ci la transmette à l’union des caisses mentionnée à l’article R. 8291-2, pour qu’elle soit détruite.
