Article L113-2 of the French Sports Code

Sports associations or societies may receive public subsidies for missions of general interest. These subsidies are the subject of agreements between the local authorities, their groupings and public establishments for inter-communal cooperation, on the one hand, and the sports associations or companies they form, on the other. A decree in the Conseil d’Etat determines the conditions under which these subsidies are paid and sets the maximum amount.
