Section 1: National approval for social and family tourism organisations.

Associations and mutual societies active in the field of social and family tourism and meeting the conditions set out in article R. 412-2 may apply for national approval issued by the Minister for Tourism. This approval may also be granted to federations or unions of associations or mutual societies whose members meet the same conditions.

Approval can only be granted to organisations whose articles of association guarantee democratic operating rules and disinterested management. In facilities classified as “tourism” or “family holiday homes” that they manage, these organisations must implement a reception policy that promotes social diversity and includes : 1° Priority during school holidays, except in establishments specialising in holidays for children and young people, for families with school-going children; 2° People receiving social assistance…

Approval is granted for a period of five years. The decision granting approval is published in the Official Bulletin of the Ministry of Tourism and in the Official Bulletin of the Ministry of Social Affairs. Approved bodies are authorised to publicise their approval under conditions defined by joint order of the ministers responsible for tourism and social affairs.

The procedures for issuing approval, in particular the composition of the application file and the procedure for examining the application, are specified by joint order of the ministers responsible for tourism and social affairs.

If it is found that the approved organisation no longer meets the conditions set out in article R. 412-2, the Minister responsible for tourism may suspend the approval for a maximum of one year, by means of a reasoned decision.
