As regards the supporting document provided for in Article R. 211-15, the following must be indicated under the vehicle’s characteristics: 1° In all cases, the type and make of the vehicle ; 2° In the case of a vehicle subject to registration, its registration number; 3° In the case of a vehicle not subject to registration, the engine number, if applicable. The insurance certificate and the provisional insurance certificate must state that, in accordance with the provisions of article R. 211-14, presentation of the supporting document only implies a presumption of cover on the part of the insurer. They must contain no information other than that provided for in this section, except, where applicable, a receipt for payment of the premium.

The insurance certificate and provisional insurance certificate must be yellow. They must be no smaller than 7 x 8 cm and no larger than 21 x 29.5 cm. These documents must also comply with the standards set by the Minister for the Economy and Finance.
