If an employer decides to terminate an employee’s contract for real and serious reasons, the termination must be notified by registered letter with acknowledgement of receipt. This letter may not be sent to the employee less than two clear days after the date set for the preliminary interview. Article L5134-107 of the French Labour Code

Notwithstanding the provisions of article L. 1243-2, failure by the employer to comply with the provisions relating to the termination of a fixed-term employment contract provided for in this sub-section entitles the employee to damages corresponding to the loss suffered.
