Subsection 2: Surface fresh water used or intended to be used for the production of water intended for human consumption

For the purposes of this section, surface fresh waters used or intended to be used for the production of water intended for human consumption are those of rivers, canals, lakes and ponds, whether or not in the public domain.

Fresh surface water used for the production of water intended for human consumption complies with the quality limits defined by order of the Minister for Health. The prefectoral order mentioned in article R. 1321-8 sets the values that must be respected for the physical, chemical and microbiological characteristics of this water for each sampling point.

This water is considered to comply with the quality limits set by the order mentioned in the first paragraph of article R. 1321-38 when the following rules are complied with: 1° The water samples are taken, before treatment, at regular intervals in the same place; 2° Parameter values are below the mandatory limit values for 95% of samples and comply with the guide values for 90% of samples; 3° For…
