Subsection 3: Screening for and treatment of certain sexually transmitted diseases

The centres may carry out screening and treatment for sexually transmitted diseases, either at the request of the patients or with their agreement, on the proposal of the doctor, who will make the results of the examinations known during a subsequent medical consultation. Under no circumstances may the centres record or communicate to anyone the identity of their clients.

Any centre which decides to carry out the screening or treatment activities referred to in Article R. 2311-14 is required to make a declaration to the Director General of the Regional Health Agency, who will inform the President of the Departmental Council, providing evidence of : 1° The permanent presence of a doctor with the training required to carry out clinical and biological investigations prior to making a diagnosis ;…

The screening and treatment activities referred to in article R. 2311-14 are subject to the supervision provided for in 4° of article R. 1421-6. The medical supervision defined in article L. 315-1 of the Social Security Code applies to the assessments and prescriptions of doctors in centres participating in the activities mentioned in article R. 2311-14.

When the centres supply free of charge to the persons mentioned in article L. 2311-5 medicines for the treatment of the diseases mentioned in article R. 2311-14, they must enlist the help of a pharmacist registered in section D or E of the national order of pharmacists. As part of the epidemiological surveillance of sexually transmitted diseases carried out at national level, the centres which carry out the activities mentioned in article R. 2311-14 are obliged to complete, under the conditions laid down by order of the Minister for Health, a standardised collection of anonymous individual data, which is the subject of a summary report sent each quarter to the Director General of the Regional Health Agency.
