Sub-paragraph 2: Training period.

The duration of the traineeship is two years, including at least one year in France. The traineeship includes theoretical instruction relating to an in-depth knowledge of artistic, technical, economic, accounting and legal matters and practical instruction, given under the supervision of the Conseil des maisons de vente and in accordance with procedures that it determines jointly with the Conseil national des courtiers de marchandises assermentés.

Practical training is carried out on the premises of an operator of voluntary sales of furniture by public auction for the entire duration of the training period set out in the first paragraph of article R. 321-26. The Conseil des maisons de vente assigns trainees. This is done on the advice of the Chambre nationale des commissaires de justice, for traineeships in the offices of commissaires de justice, and on the advice of the Conseil national des courtiers de marchandises assermentés, for those carried out with sworn brokers of goods.

At the end of the first year of the traineeship, the Conseil des maisons de vente will ensure, on the basis of a file provided by the trainee’s supervisor, that the trainee is fit to continue the professional training. At the end of the traineeship, the Board shall issue a certificate of aptitude for the profession of auctioneer to the trainee who has demonstrated his/her aptitude to practise the profession.
