Article L174-4 of the French Insurance Code
The insurance covers loss of and damage to goods caused by all shipping accidents or events of force majeure, except where formal and limited exclusions are provided for in the insurance contract.

The insurance covers loss of and damage to goods caused by all shipping accidents or events of force majeure, except where formal and limited exclusions are provided for in the insurance contract.
The insurer shall not be liable for damage or loss caused by intentional or inexcusable fault on the part of the consignor or the consignee as such. It shall not be liable for loss or damage resulting from the inherent vice of the goods, resulting from their internal deterioration, decay or leakage, as well as from the absence or defect of packaging, road shrinkage or rodents.
