Subsection 4: Provisions common to all sporting events

An event may not begin until the insurance cover referred to in article L. 331-9, taken out by the organiser, has been produced to the competent administrative authority.

The organiser is liable to the State and local authorities for fees representing the cost of setting up the special security service required to ensure the safety of spectators and traffic during the event and, where applicable, its preparation.

The organiser is obliged to restore the roads open to public traffic and their appurtenances, which he has obtained for his private use during the event.

The Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Transport jointly draw up the list of roads that are permanently, periodically or temporarily banned for all sporting events or for certain categories of them, due to the impact that their staging may have on the economy, tourism or general safety. The distribution or sale of printed matter or objects during an event may only take place under the conditions and in the places determined by the competent administrative authorities with the agreement of the organiser and the owner or owners of the premises.
