Section 2: Other product-related offences

It is forbidden for any professional to display or offer for sale products marked with false or altered names.

It is forbidden to remove, mask, alter or fraudulently modify in any way whatsoever the names, signatures, monograms, letters, figures, serial numbers, emblems, signs of any kind affixed to or incorporated in the goods and serving to identify them physically or electronically.

It is forbidden to display, offer for sale, sell or hold in premises used for professional purposes, goods whose identification signs have been altered.

It is prohibited, on natural or manufactured products, held or transported with a view to sale, offered for sale or sold, to affix or use a trademark or service mark, a name, a sign or any indication of such a nature as to lead to the belief, if they are foreign, that they were manufactured in France or that they are of French origin and, in all cases, that they…

It is forbidden to make people believe in the French origin of foreign products or, for all products, in an origin different from their true origin, by adding to, subtracting from or in any way altering the information originally shown on the product, by advertisements, brochures, circulars, prospectuses or posters, by producing false invoices or certificates of origin, by verbal affirmation or by any other means.
