Article L721-6 of the French Code governing the entry and residence of foreign nationals and the right of asylum

A foreign national who has been granted a period of voluntary departure may, upon notification of the decision imposing an obligation to leave French territory, be forced to reside in the place designated to him/her by the administrative authority.
