Subsection 2: Appeals against refusal of travel authorisations

Within the General Directorate for Foreigners in France of the Ministry of the Interior, the Deputy Director of Visas is responsible for examining appeals against decisions to refuse travel authorisation taken by the ETIAS national unit. The national travel authorisation investigation service provides the deputy director of visas with information useful for examining appeals referred to it.

The Deputy Director of Visas may either reject the appeal or instruct the national ETIAS unit to issue the requested travel authorisation. He may delegate his signature to officials under his authority.

A person whose appeal has been rejected by the Deputy Director of Visas may apply to the Administrative Court to have this decision annulled within the time limits laid down in Articles R. 421-1 and R. 421-2 of the Code of Administrative Justice. The provisions of Article R. 421-7 of the Code of Administrative Justice are not applicable.
