Automatic financial aid is awarded in the form of direct grants to support the conception and development of long-term film projects.
Direct grants are awarded to authors for writing a detailed synopsis or treatment for a feature-length film in the fiction, documentary or animation genres.
To be eligible for direct benefits, authors must be French nationals or assimilated.
The authors must have previously collaborated on the production of at least one feature film, documentary or animated film that meets the following conditions:1° It must have been released in cinemas in France during the year preceding the application;2° It must have been produced under production conditions that enabled production approval to be granted or distribution approval to be granted;3° It must have had a final production cost of less…

Project development grants may not be combined with selective screenwriting grants.The same author may not receive more than one project development grant per calendar year.
The amount of the direct grant is set at €10,000 per project.If there is more than one author for the same project, this amount is divided between the authors on the basis of the agreements between them.
The direct grant is awarded in the form of a subsidy.It is paid in a single instalment at the time it is awarded.
Direct grants for the development of projects are awarded in addition to the selective grants awarded pursuant to article 212-41 of which they constitute an accessory.
Direct grants are awarded to help finance development costs other than writing, rewriting, rights acquisition and, for works in the animation genre, graphic design.
