Article 1064 of the French Code of civil procedure

An extract of any decision establishing a presumption of absence or appointing a person to represent a person presumed to be absent and to administer his or her property, as well as any decision modifying or withdrawing the measures taken, shall be sent to the registry of the judicial court in whose jurisdiction the person presumed to be absent was born, for the purpose of being kept in the civil register and publicised by mention in the margin of the birth certificate, in accordance with the procedures set out in the articles 1057 to 1061. In the case of people born abroad, the documents are sent to the central civil status department.

Article 1064

Un extrait de toute décision constatant une présomption d’absence ou désignant une personne pour représenter un présumé absent et administrer ses biens ainsi que de toute décision portant modification ou suppression des mesures prises est transmis au greffe du tribunal judiciaire dans le ressort duquel est née la personne présumée absente, à fin de conservation au répertoire civil et de publicité par mention en marge de l’acte de naissance, selon les modalités prévues aux articles 1057 à 1061. La transmission est faite au service central d’état civil pour les personnes nées à l’étranger.
