Article 1378-1 of the French Code of civil procedure

Within fifteen days of the drawing up of the record of the opening and status of the will referred to in article 1007 of the Civil Code, the notary shall arrange for the insertion of a notice, which shall include the name of the deceased, the name and contact details of the notary in charge of the estate, as well as the existence of a universal legacy, in the Bulletin officiel des annonces civiles et commerciales and in a legal gazette distributed within the jurisdiction of the competent court.

The costs of advertising are borne by the universal legatee.

Dans les quinze jours suivant l’établissement du procès-verbal de l’ouverture et de l’état du testament mentionné à l’article 1007 du code civil, le notaire fait procéder à l’insertion d’un avis, qui comporte le nom du défunt, le nom et les coordonnées du notaire chargé de la succession, ainsi que l’existence d’un legs universel, au Bulletin officiel des annonces civiles et commerciales et dans un journal d’annonces légales diffusé dans le ressort du tribunal compétent.
