Article 1564 of the French Code of civil procedure

Where the application has been lodged at the registry of the judicial court, the notification referred to in the third paragraph of Article 1563 states that the opposing party must constitute a lawyer within fifteen days of that notification.

In other cases, the applicant’s lawyer is informed by the court registry, as soon as the application is handed over, of the date of the first useful hearing at which the case will be called. This date is brought to the attention of the opposing party in the notification provided for in the third paragraph of article 1563.

Article 1564

Lorsque la requête a été déposée au greffe du tribunal judiciaire, la notification mentionnée au troisième alinéa de l’article 1563 indique que la partie adverse doit constituer avocat dans un délai de quinze jours suivant cette notification.

Dans les autres cas, l’avocat du requérant est informé par le greffe, dès remise de la requête, de la date de la première audience utile à laquelle l’affaire sera appelée. Cette date est portée à la connaissance de la partie adverse dans la notification prévue au troisième alinéa de l’article 1563.
