Article 1822 of the French Civil Code

The numerical, descriptive and estimated statement of the animals handed over, appearing in the lease, does not transfer ownership of them to the lessee; its sole purpose is to serve as a basis for the settlement to be made when the contract comes to an end.

L’état numératif, descriptif et estimatif des animaux remis, figurant au bail, n’en transporte pas la propriété au preneur ; il n’a d’autre objet que de servir de base au règlement à intervenir au moment où le contrat prend fin.
