1. The proceeds of the sale shall be applied, in order of priority and up to the amount of the proceeds :
a) to the payment of costs and other incidental expenses of all kinds incurred by the Customs or on their instructions in setting up and keeping the goods in storage and in selling them ;
b) the recovery of duties and taxes to which the goods are liable by reason of the destination to which they are assigned.
2. Where the proceeds of the sale are sufficient, any other costs to which the goods may be subject shall be paid.
Any balance remaining shall be paid into the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations, where it shall remain at the disposal of the owner of the goods or those entitled under him for a period of two years. After this period, it is forfeited to the Treasury. However, if the balance is less than 3 euros, it is immediately credited to the budget.
3. Where the proceeds of the sale are insufficient to settle the claims listed in 2 above, the sums obtained are paid into the Caisse des Dépôts et Consignations and distributed, where applicable, in accordance with the procedure for distribution by contribution, at the discretion of the administration. The competent judge is the president of the judicial court of the place of deposit.
