Article 211-31 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

Sums are calculated on the basis of the exploitation abroad of the works mentioned in article 721-6 for which production approval has been granted.
The calculation is made, each year, by applying a rate to the total amount of the sums entered in the automatic foreign promotion account of the foreign sales company, once the sums calculated due to theatrical representation in cinemas in the countries and territories mentioned on the list mentioned in article 721-12 are permanently registered there in accordance with Article 721-19.

Des sommes sont calculées à raison de l’exploitation à l’étranger des œuvres mentionnées à l’article 721-6 pour lesquelles l’agrément de production a été délivré.
Le calcul est effectué, chaque année, par application d’un taux au montant total des sommes inscrites sur le compte automatique promotion à l’étranger de l’entreprise de vente à l’étranger, une fois que les sommes calculées à raison de la représentation en salles de spectacles cinématographiques dans les pays et territoires mentionnés sur la liste mentionnée à l’article 721-12 y sont inscrites à titre définitif conformément à l’article 721-19.
