Article 231-33 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

Selective financial aid is awarded to operators of cinemas that maintain a difficult programme in the face of competition and that are located either in municipalities with a population of more than 200,000 or in municipalities with a population of 200,000 or less and in whose territory more than 1,500,000 tickets were sold during the calendar year preceding the year of the application.

Des aides financières sélectives sont attribuées aux exploitants d’établissements de spectacles cinématographiques qui maintiennent face à la concurrence une programmation difficile et qui sont implantés soit dans les communes de plus de 200 000 habitants, soit dans les communes dont la population est égale ou inférieure à 200 000 habitants et sur le territoire desquelles ont été réalisées plus de 1 500 000 entrées durant l’année civile précédant l’année de la demande.
