Article 269 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

As soon as the indictment decision has become final or, in the event of an appeal, as soon as the judgment designating the appeal assize court has been served, the accused, if detained, is transferred to the remand prison in the place where the assizes are being held.

Dès que la décision de mise en accusation est devenue définitive ou, en cas d’appel, dès que l’arrêt de désignation de la cour d’assises d’appel a été signifié, l’accusé, s’il est détenu, est transféré dans la maison d’arrêt du lieu où se tiennent les assises.
