Article 283 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The President, if the investigation appears to him to be incomplete or if new information has come to light since its closure, may order any acts of information that he deems useful.

This is done either by the President or by one of his assessors or an investigating judge whom he delegates for this purpose. In this case, the provisions of Chapter I of Title III of Book I must be observed, with the exception of those of Article 167.

Le président, si l’instruction lui semble incomplète ou si des éléments nouveaux ont été révélés depuis sa clôture, peut ordonner tous actes d’information qu’il estime utiles.

Il y est procédé soit par le président, soit par un de ses assesseurs ou un juge d’instruction qu’il délègue à cette fin. Dans ce cas, les prescriptions du chapitre Ier du titre III du livre Ier doivent être observées, à l’exception de celles de l’article 167.
