Article 311-97 of the French Cinema and Moving Image Code

The production company has a period of three years from notification of the decision to obtain, taking into account its situation or the nature of the work, either a decision in principle to grant selective production aid, or prior authorisation when an automatic account has been opened in its name within this period.
Failing this, the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée may decide, depending on the progress of the project and the proof of expenditure provided by the production company, either to request repayment of the aid already paid, or to waive repayment of all or part of it.
In exceptional circumstances and at the reasoned request of the production company, the period mentioned in the first paragraph may be extended by a period not exceeding six months, by decision of the President of the Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.

Article 311-97

L’entreprise de production dispose d’un délai de trois ans à compter de la notification de la décision pour obtenir, compte tenu de sa situation ou de la nature de l’œuvre, soit une décision de principe pour l’attribution d’une aide sélective à la production, soit une autorisation préalable lorsqu’un compte automatique a été ouvert à son nom dans ce délai.
A défaut, le président du Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée peut décider, selon l’état d’avancement du projet et les justificatifs des dépenses fournis par l’entreprise de production, soit de demander le reversement de l’aide déjà versée, soit de renoncer au reversement de tout ou partie de celle-ci.
A titre exceptionnel et sur demande motivée de l’entreprise de production, le délai mentionné au premier alinéa peut être prolongé d’une durée qui ne peut excéder six mois, par décision du président du Centre national du cinéma et de l’image animée.
