Article 344 of the French Civil Code

The following may be adopted:

1° Minors for whom the parents or the family council have validly consented to the adoption;

2° Wards of the State for whom the family council for wards of the State has consented to the adoption;

3° Children judicially declared abandoned under the conditions provided for in articles 381-1 and 381-2;

4° Adults, in the simple form and in the plenary form in the cases provided for in article 345.

Article 344

Peuvent être adoptés :

1° Les mineurs pour lesquels les parents ou le conseil de famille ont valablement consenti à l’adoption ;

2° Les pupilles de l’Etat pour lesquels le conseil de famille des pupilles de l’Etat a consenti à l’adoption ;

3° Les enfants judiciairement déclarés délaissés dans les conditions prévues aux articles 381-1 et 381-2 ;

4° Les majeurs, en la forme simple et en la forme plénière dans les cas prévus à l’article 345.
