Article 358 of the French Code of Criminal Procedure

The president counts each ballot in the presence of the members of the court and jury who may check the ballot papers. He shall immediately record the result of the vote in the margin or following the question resolved.

Blank ballot papers, or those declared invalid by the majority, shall be counted as favourable to the accused.

Immediately after the counting of each ballot, the ballot papers shall be burnt.

Le président dépouille chaque scrutin en présence des membres de la cour et du jury qui peuvent vérifier les bulletins. Il constate sur-le-champ le résultat du vote en marge ou à la suite de la question résolue.

Les bulletins blancs, ou déclarés nuls par la majorité, sont comptés comme favorables à l’accusé.

Immédiatement après le dépouillement de chaque scrutin, les bulletins sont brûlés.
